Holiday Fairs & Bazaars

December in Hong Kong means Christmas, Christmas, Christmas! Indeed, most Hong Kong Christmas markets are up and running as early as October and November. These bazaars stock everything from unique, hand-crafted gifts, to elegant designer products. There’s a new find everywhere you look!

This month, Hong Kong will play host to a number of pop-up markets and weekly bazaars with a Christmas theme. This is in addition, of course, to the general environment of frivolity and fun that permeates the city! With the lights and the music, the discounts and the offers, the city is truly transforming into a winter wonderland.

Hong Kong WinterFest

A series of events sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Winterfest begins in late November or early December, and runs up until the New Year's Countdown on 1 January. The highlight is the centrepiece in Central’s Statue Square, the icon of the season. These magnificent centrepieces have been presented by Tiffany, Bvlgari and Swarovski… so it’s an absolutely majestic piece, every time! The grand reveal of this landmark centrepiece is a highly anticipated event, and could be a specially commissioned piece of art, a strikingly decorated Christmas tree – something that will certainly bring the spirit of the season to the fore.

Light Up for Christmas

In Tsim Sha Tsui side, walk from Harbour City Mall and head towards the waterfront. Tsim Sha Tsui East puts on an annual Festive Illuminations display. Don't miss the humongous LED multimedia video walls and the sea of snowflakes in Mody Lane! There are Christmas Displays at Harbour City Mall, the Peninsula Hotel and at the 1881 Heritage Mall, which transforms itself into a magic wonderland every year.

The skyline draped in Christmas lights makes for an awe-inspiring spectacle from Victoria Harbour Waterfront.

Take a walk around the island from Statue Square through Central to check out the amazing displays in some of the shopping centres. The IFC Mall, The Landmark, Pacific Place, Times Square, and Lee Tung Avenue bring you some of the most unique lights and displays for the season.

Celebrations for Kids

There’s a myriad of possibilities for kids, from the City Kids Christmas Fair to Lego Christmas Workshops! From face-painting, shopping, crafts, and of course, lots of food, the City Kids Christmas Fair has something for everyone. LEGO’s fun-packed Christmas-themed workshops for children from ages 3-10 bring challenges for your children to enjoy throughout the season. And don’t miss Disneyland’s Sparkling Christmas!

Have a Creative Christmas!

There’s no shortage of creative outlets in Hong Kong this holiday season. Experience the elegance of an evening with the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra’s Classics for Kids Christmas Concert. Visit Hong Kong’s wonderful family holiday tradition, The Nutcracker. Watch a movie or a play with a Christmassy theme. Or do something different with a fun bamboo t-shirt painting workshop hosted by Bamboa!

Be Nice, Not Naughty!

Feel good, do good. After the shopping, the gifts, and the fun with the kids of the family, benefit the Society for Community Organization (SOCO) through an adult evening of carols and canapes in the Helena May.
