He has made his home in the New Territories for over thirty years and is constantly updating and revising his talks about Hong Kong and Macau.

His books include Macao – People and Places, Past and Present, published by Angsana Ltd in 2013; Streets: Exploring Hong Kong Island, published by Hong Kong University Press in 2002 and its companion volume Streets: Exploring Kowloon, published 2007 by Hong Kong University Press.  For more than eighteen years, Jason has had a series of regular columns in the South China Morning Post. His current column, Then and Now, appears every week in the Sunday Morning Post’s Post Magazine.

Our evening will consist of a 45-minute lecture on how the twentieth century in Hong Kong experienced tremendous societal change.  In few aspects was this transformation more profound and long lasting than in the changing role and status of women. In particular, the public role played by Chinese women altered profoundly during this century, and the effects of greater opportunity in all fields of endeavor continue into the present day.

In this exciting new lecture, we will explore the broader international and local circumstances that contributed to this evolution, and track these changes through the fascinating lives and careers of various women from very diverse ethnic backgrounds, educational levels and socio-economic circumstances who all made their homes and lives in Hong Kong.

Jason's talk will be followed by a Questions & Answer session.

Included in the evening's price will be a welcome drink and Thai snack food to enjoy.  Additional drinks will be available at additional cost of HKD 40/each on the night.
