Come join other Mozaic members for a challenging Sunday hike to Lin Ma Hang with Wouter van Marle of Adventure Tours.

  • We will meet at 10:00am at the Sheung Shui MTR station.
  • We then take minibus to the police checkpoint to the start of our hike.
  • We will start our hike to the village - bypassing the restricted area. There will be some scrambling up/down steep slopes along the way.
  • We will visit the Lin Ma Hang village.
  • We will visit the residence of Ip Ting-sz - colonial style building who was a friend of Sun Yat-Sen.
  • Next, hike up the hill to the Macintosh Fort - for spectacular views towards Shenzhen.
  • Then we will visit the Lin Ma Hang lead mine with its famous three portal entrance.
  • To finish, we will hike the same way back down the hills to the police checkpoint.  Here we will take a minibus back to the Sheung Shui MTR station, finishing at around 16:00.

This is not an easy tour: the hike to the village is challenging, and the fort is at the end of a long flight of stairs.  You should be in relatively good fitness to manage the day out.

Please bring along enough food and  water and any other other supplies for the outing, as there will be nothing available in the village.

Please wear sturdy hiking shoes, and dress approriately for the weather, as January can be quite cool.

Please bring along and have at least HKD20 value on your Octopus card to pay for the minibus.
