Hong Kong International Arts Carnival 2018

The International Arts Carnivalwill be held from July 6 to August 12 this year in Hong Kong. It perfectly coincides with Summer… for good reason! This allows families to come with children to witness the various arts and performances. All of the programs in the Carnival are suitable for family audiences.

This year's carnival will see performing groups from several countries, including Belgium, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, South Korea and more. There are of course several performing groups from Mainland China too.

The carnival is like no other in the world! These talented groups host a variety of program s such as puppetry, musicals, theatre, multimedia circus theatre, ballet, magic, shadow puppet theatre and film screenings, all from across the world. There are even electroluminescent puppetry shows!

The carnival’s opener is very promising. The Scottish Ballet from the UK will perform their rendition of “Hansel & Gretel”, telling the classic Brothers Grimm story with unique choreography and storytelling techniques. Last show will be on 8 July (Sun) 7:30pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre.

The follow-up to this is equally, if not more impressive. The dazzling LightWire Theatre brings to you “Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey”, a one-hour electroluminescent puppetry show. Not impressed? Well, this mega-talented group were semi-finalists in “America’s Got Talent”. This is the group’s much-anticipated return to Hong Kong after 5 years, when they performed a sold-out show at the International Arts Carnival in 2012.  Shows from Friday, 13 July – Sunday 15 July in the KO SHAN THEATRE NEW WING, AUDITORIUM, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon.

Another major visual attraction is “Airplay”, put on by Acrobuffos from the US. The internationally renowned duo is famous for their unique circus-style street performances, topped by great comedic storytelling!  From 19 July at the YUEN LONG THEATRE AUDITORIUM.

Some of the other suggested to attend events of the carnival are:
