Making Last Minute Plans for New Year's In Hong Kong

2017 is coming to an end. Everyone is geared up to see the year off and welcome the new year with aplomb. Well – almost everyone. If you are one of those who kept putting off making any plans till the last moment and now can’t decide what to do, here are some suggestions!

Take in the Fireworks

With the city coming alight every night with the Symphony of Lights, it’s little surprise that the light, sound and firework display at Victoria Harbour on New Year’s Eve in Hong Kong is impressive. The city brings its most spectacular New Year celebrations yet, this year, with a party atmosphere taking over the entire city on New Year’s Eve. Throngs of cheering revellers will take part in the countdown. As the clock ticks down to midnight, a musical fireworks show will light up Hong Kong’s skies. Don’t forget to plan early to ensure a prime spot!

Sunday, December 31, 2017

Time:
- ‘Deco-Sphere’ performance: Around 10pm
- Shooting stars: 11pm, 11:15pm, 11:30pm and 11:45pm
- Musical fireworks: Midnight

Venue: Victoria Harbour

You could enjoy the fireworks display from the Harbour front, or you could get the best seat in the house, with unobstructed views of the fireworks. Avoid the crowds on board a Chinese junk or chartered boat in the Harbour. A New Year’s Eve cruise offers music, food, festivity and, on top of that, breath-taking views of the Victoria Harbour at the stroke of midnight. The best part is that there are cruises for everyone! Families, young adults, friends, and couples.

You could book a yacht for the night too, which gives you the opportunity to celebrate with a smaller, more intimate gathering, in the same extravagantly beautiful, open setting.

Sunday, December 31, 2017

Parties and Clubs

Around the world, New Year’s Eve is almost synonymous with parties, alcohol, dance and music. There are some unique parties you could attend in Hong Kong.

For instance, you could celebrate New Year’s in mid-air. Try the party at Ozone, the second highest bar in the world, located on the 118th floor of Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, which offers some spectacular views.

Depending on the kind of music that you like, you might want to catch the swanky Bollywood Glam night at Shore. DJ Agni and DJ Deep will be dropping some desi beats, so dress up in the Bollywood way to get you in the mood! Or rock out with a full Techno medley at the 4D Holo NYE Party at The W.

You can also go for something really different with a themed party. Try a Retro Bash, a Burlesque, a Ball, a Masquerade, an Animal-Themed Party, or even a celebration in the style of the Great Gatsby. Go back in time as the world moves into the future!

Outdoor Fun Times

If dancing in tiny clubs is not your thing, join the New Year’s parade. The parade held on New Year’s Eve lasts up to 10 pm. It is organized by local groups and ends a couple of hours before midnight to make way for crazy midnight celebrations. People dressed in colourful costumes and get-up along with wonderfully decorated carriages depict the cultural vibrancy of the people of Hong Kong.

Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront promenade, the Central Star Ferry pier or at the Convention Centre promenade in Wan Chai are great places to watch the New Year fireworks!
