Cocktails are aesthetically pleasing, taste great and have a certain charm about them. For many, they're overpriced drinks (which is a fair assessment, especially in certain places). For others, they're a delicious necessity - and even a status symbol of sorts.


However, you view the price of cocktails when drinking outside, what's certain is that these very cocktails can be made at home, cheaper and to your tastes too! You don't need any bartending experience to know how to make a few simple cocktails. They're extremely fun to make and do make a great statement at social occasions.


We list out a few cocktails you can easily concoct at home, both Asian-influenced and those popular around the world.



Pina Colada:


If you like Pina Coladas, then you might be happy to know that it's actually one of the easiest drinks to make! 


The national drink of Puerto Rico requires white rum, dark rum, coconut cream, whipping cream, pineapple juice as main ingredients, plus maraschino cherries and pineapple slices for garnishing.


Put all the main ingredients into the blender for 15 seconds (whether you want to do so with ice or not is your choice) before pouring it back into a glass. Garnish liberally with cherries and pineapple slices!

Neon Espadin

Passion fruit pulp isn't commonly used in cocktails, but a bartender at Midnight Rambler in Dallas had a vision about how to utilize this unique fruit. Instead of the traditional rum, he uses mezcal. He also replaced Lillet with amontillado sherry.


He uses a combination of mezcal, chocolate liqueur and passion fruit puree to create a drink that was always bound to succeed!

Mai Tai


We couldn't close this list without the Polynesian-style classic. This drink has been around for 75 years and there's a good reason why.


You need light rum, dark rum, creme de almond, triple sec and pineapple juice.


You need to remember to balance out the ingredients well, ideally with a Collins glass and top it off well with pineapple and dark rum.

Beijing Bellini


We all know the traditional Bellini that has Peach Schnapps. However, this drink, made to honour the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, has a fun twist that replaces the peach schnapps with lychee liqueur. Quite a strong flavour!


An alternate option to lychee liquor is to blend lychee nuts and use them.
